Peoria Municipal Court is the city court for criminal misdemeanors, traffic violations, city code violations, injunctions against harassment, and orders of protection in Peoria. The court says so on its own homepage. It is not Maricopa County Superior Court, and it is not the sheriff’s bond window.
The building is part of the Peoria Municipal Complex at 10100 N. 83rd Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345. The phone is (623) 773-7400. The fax on the court homepage is (623) 773-7407. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The court is closed Friday. A Friday drive to 83rd Avenue will find a locked clerk’s window. Plan the Thursday before, or the Monday after, if you need the counter.
This is general information, not legal advice.
Getting into the building
Visitor parking is off West Cinnabar Avenue, on the upper level of the parking garage. The court says to take the footbridge at the northeast corner of the garage into the courthouse. The city’s main civic address, 8401 W. Monroe Street, is not the court counter. Use 83rd Avenue.
The homepage still tells anyone with COVID-19 symptoms not to enter, and to call (623) 773-7400 to ask about rescheduling. That is the court’s instruction. Follow it rather than walking in sick and hoping to be seen.
Payments the court accepts at the counter are listed on the pay-fines page: cash in person, checks, money orders, and cards. A drop box by the entrance takes non-cash payments after hours. The court says not to put cash in the drop box. Phone card payments for fines go to a number the city publishes, (855) 581-2433, and the city says a convenience charge applies. Mail a fine, with the citation or case number and no cash, to Peoria City Court at the 83rd Avenue address. Those options are for fines the court is collecting. They are not instructions for posting a Maricopa County jail bond.
Orders of protection and veterans court
Orders of protection can be started through AZPOINT, which the court links. It is a form interview. You still file in a court.
In March 2025 the court announced a partnership with West Valley Regional Veterans’ Court. The homepage says to ask the attorney, the prosecutor, or the judge about eligibility. Remote-hearing rules are in the administrative orders linked from that same page. Do not assume a criminal case will be heard by video.
Finding the case
Start with the citation. The court name, address, and appearance date are on it. If the paper says Peoria Municipal Court, call (623) 773-7400 Monday through Thursday.
The Arizona Judicial Branch public access lookup is the statewide name search. Treat a hit as a lead. The branch says the site is not the official record, may be incomplete, excludes local ordinance charges, and updates weekly. Call the court to confirm a date before you take a day off work.
If the person is in a county jail, custody is on the MCSO inmate search: booking number, or first name, last name, and date of birth. The listing can show the facility, the charges, a bond, the next court, and holds. MCSO says the page is not for legal filings and that identity is confirmed by fingerprints. The inmate search guide explains how to read it.
City bond versus county bond
Peoria City Court collects the money owed on Peoria cases, at the 83rd Avenue counter during the hours above.
A Maricopa County criminal bond is a different counter, even when the arrest was in Peoria. Superior Court says that bond is posted in person only, at the Bond and Fine Room on the northwest corner of the 4th Avenue Jail, 201 S. 4th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85003. It is not paid by phone, text, email, or a payment app. Booking and Initial Appearance Court are at Intake, Transfer, and Release, 2670 S. 28th Drive. The court says that building replaced central intake at 4th Avenue Jail. After the bond is paid, release processing may take up to 24 hours, and people in sheriff’s custody are released from ITR, not from the Peoria garage and not from 4th Avenue. The 4th Avenue guide is the bond window. Call Sheriff’s Information Management Services at (602) 876-0322 to ask which facility the current listing shows.
A surety bond is how families post that county bond without tying up the full amount at the window. The Bail Barn quotes a premium of 10% of the bail amount, with a $150 minimum. That estimate is the premium only. Additional fees may apply. Call (623) 428-2276 for the exact total. The premium is paid to the agency. It is not a fine you mail to Peoria City Court, and it is not refunded the way a cash bond deposited with a court can be.
Justice courts that cover parts of Peoria
City police generally cite into the city court. State and county officers often cite into a justice court. The citation controls.
Manistee Justice Court includes parts of Phoenix, Glendale, and Peoria. It is at 14264 W. Tierra Buena Lane, Surprise, AZ 85374, and the directory lists (602) 372-2000. Arrowhead, at the same building and the same published phone, is the other precinct the county’s community chart associates with Peoria, along with Glendale and Sun City. North Valley shares the building too, and the county chart places it in north Phoenix and Anthem, so do not assume a north Peoria address is North Valley. Ask for the precinct named on the paper. The full building list is on the justice courts guide.
Justice court windows are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They are open Friday, which Peoria Municipal Court is not. Showing up at the wrong one on a Friday is a common West Valley mistake.
Felonies are not heard in either place. Those go downtown. See the Superior Court guide.
A workable sequence
If the paper says Peoria Municipal Court, use 83rd Avenue, and do not go on Friday. If it names Manistee or Arrowhead, use Tierra Buena Lane in Surprise. If the inmate search shows a county bond, the bond window is 4th Avenue and the release door is 28th Drive. Bring the citation number, the booking number, and a note of any hold. A posted bond does not clear a hold by itself.
Peoria families call at night because the clerk is closed and the jail is not. That call reaches The Bail Barn. It does not reach the Peoria clerk until the next open weekday.
