Glendale City Court

Glendale City Court at 5711 W. Glendale Avenue: hours, how a city bond is paid, and which Maricopa County justice courts also cover Glendale.

Glendale has a city court and, depending on the officer and the charge, a Maricopa County justice court. They are not interchangeable. Glendale police paperwork usually names Glendale City Court. A sheriff, DPS, or other county citation can name a justice precinct instead. Felonies leave both of those courts and go to Superior Court in downtown Phoenix.

The city departments page says Glendale City Court hears criminal misdemeanors, city code violations, traffic violations, and certain juvenile offenses committed in Glendale. It issues protective orders in domestic-violence and harassment cases. It can issue search warrants for misdemeanors and for felonies. The city says nearly 100,000 people come to the court in a year. Appeals of a final Glendale decision go to Maricopa County Superior Court on the audio record. The FAQ says that appeal is not a new trial and that new evidence is not allowed. A notice of appeal is due within 14 calendar days.

This page is general information, not legal advice.

City court address and hours

Glendale City Court is at 5711 W. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301. The phone is (623) 930-2400. The departments page also lists fax (623) 937-8860.

The city court page publishes these hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed on city holidays, except that on the second and fourth Thursday of each month the court opens at 8:30 a.m. If you have a Thursday setting, check the calendar before you arrive at 8:00.

Bond refunds, on the departments page, are handled at (623) 930-2400. Card payments on fines are listed at (623) 930-2427. Those are city cashier lines, not The Bail Barn, and not the sheriff’s bond window. If a date is missing, call the main court number rather than guessing from a neighborhood.

Paying a Glendale bond

The court FAQ addresses a Glendale warrant directly. Until the person completes one of the court’s options, they are subject to arrest. The published options are:

  • Pay the bail amount the judge ordered online, and choose “Bonds” on the city’s payment site.
  • Pay that amount in person at 5711 W. Glendale Avenue.
  • Mail a cashier’s check or money order for that amount to the court at the same address.
  • Or file a motion asking the judge to quash the warrant, explaining the missed appearance.

The FAQ then says the part families miss: paying the bond does not resolve the criminal charge. The person still has to appear on the date the court gives once the bail is received. If they do not, the court may forfeit the bond and issue another warrant. Civil traffic fines on the same citation are extra. Paying those fines does not clear the criminal warrant.

That is a payment to Glendale City Court. It is not the Maricopa County bond window.

A surety bond is arranged with a licensed bail agent, and the premium is paid to the agency. The Bail Barn quotes a premium of 10% of the bail amount, with a $150 minimum. That estimate is the premium only. Additional fees may apply. Call (623) 428-2276 for the exact total. We answer overnight. The Glendale clerk does not.

When the case is not in Glendale City Court

Confirm custody on the MCSO inmate search if the person was booked into a county jail. The record shows the facility, charges, bonds, and holds. MCSO says not to treat it as the official record for a legal action.

If that record shows a Maricopa County criminal bond, Superior Court says the bond is posted in person at the Bond and Fine Room, northwest corner of the 4th Avenue Jail, 201 S. 4th Avenue, Phoenix. It is not paid by phone, text, or a payment app. Booking and Initial Appearance Court are at Intake, Transfer, and Release, 2670 S. 28th Drive, which replaced central intake at 4th Avenue Jail. Release processing may take up to 24 hours, and release is through that same ITR address. The 4th Avenue guide is the bond window, not the booking door. Glendale Avenue is the wrong drive for a county bond.

Justice courts are the other fork. The county chart and the Manistee judge’s page say Manistee includes parts of Phoenix, Glendale, and Peoria. Manistee sits at 14264 W. Tierra Buena Lane, Surprise, AZ 85374, phone (602) 372-2000, shared on the directory with Arrowhead, Hassayampa, and North Valley. The county’s community chart also associates Arrowhead with Glendale, Peoria, and Sun City, at that same Surprise building, and Country Meadows with Glendale, west Phoenix, and Avondale, at 10420 W. Van Buren Street, Avondale, phone (602) 372-8000.

Do not pick a precinct from a neighborhood name. The bottom of the citation, or the justice court directory, is the check. Precinct lines do not follow city limits.

What families actually do

Photograph the court name and the complaint number. Call (623) 930-2400 if the paper says Glendale City Court. Call the justice court number if it names Manistee, Arrowhead, or Country Meadows. If someone is in custody, read the booking number and any hold off the inmate search before you call. A Glendale bond and a county hold can both be true.

On the second and fourth Thursday the door opens at 8:30 a.m., not 8:00. Glendale bail bonds from The Bail Barn are available at any hour. The clerk’s window is not. Peoria Municipal Court is closed all day Friday. Glendale’s city court is not.

Questions families ask

Where is Glendale City Court, and when is it open?
5711 W. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301. Phone (623) 930-2400. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed city holidays. On the second and fourth Thursday of the month the court opens at 8:30 a.m.
How do I pay a bond on a Glendale warrant?
The court FAQ says to pay the bail amount the judge ordered online under Bonds, in person at the court, or by cashier’s check or money order in the mail. You can also file a motion to quash. Paying the bond does not end the case. The person still has to appear, or the court may forfeit the bond and issue a new warrant.
My family member was arrested in Glendale and the lookup says a county jail. Where is the bond paid?
If the obligation is a Maricopa County criminal bond, Superior Court says to pay it in person at 201 S. 4th Avenue, not at the Glendale courthouse. A surety bond is posted by a licensed bail agent. The Bail Barn quotes a premium of 10% of the bail amount, with a $150 minimum. That estimate is the premium only. Additional fees may apply. Call (623) 428-2276 for the exact total.
Which justice court covers Glendale?
Parts of Glendale are in the Manistee precinct, at 14264 W. Tierra Buena Lane in Surprise, (602) 372-2000. Arrowhead and Country Meadows also appear on the county’s Glendale chart, at different buildings. Use the court named on the citation.
